Resistance. Resilience. Run.
As Freedom Runners, our mission and values are…
Connecting Past to Present
Upholding the legacy of the original Black Panther Party's Ten-Point Program which demands for access to healthcare, housing, and an end to police brutality. The Freedom Run directly addresses the ongoing need for these provisions in today's society, reflecting how historical struggles for basic human rights are still relevant.
Health as a Right, Not a Privilege
In a climate of rising healthcare costs, widening health disparities, and reduced access to essential services, this event underscores the fundamental right to health for all. The health and wellness fair provides tangible resources and education.
Economic Empowerment Through Wellness
The current economic landscape often sees marginalized communities disproportionately affected by poor health outcomes, which in turn impacts economic stability. By promoting physical and mental well-being, the event aims to contribute to individual and community resilience and economic strength.
Political Action and Community Unity
The event serves as a call to action, reminding participants that collective well-being is intertwined with political advocacy and community solidarity. It's an opportunity to come together, share resources, and reinforce the power of community in the face of systemic challenges.
Celebrating a Legacy of Service
Honor the enduring legacy of the Black Panther Party's community service initiatives, including their Free Breakfast for Children Program and community health clinics, and highlight how their vision continues to inspire contemporary efforts.
